Why West Bar
Flexible offices and studios don’t come much better placed. On the up and coming edge of West Bar Square are some of Sheffield’s finest historic old city buildings, and you could be in one of them. Next door to The National Emergency Services Museum sits what was once three pairs of dwellings built in 1794. Sadly this is the last one standing but it’s a real charmer that you can’t help but fall for.
From the time it was built right through to its new lease of life, it’s always been a home to start-ups and small businesses. In its early years the street was bustling with residential dwellings, shops, small artisan workshops and factories, all with residential quarters close by.
119 West Bar was divided into 2 dwellings with separate shop fronts, and in its time mostly housed independents such as leather makers and cheese makers.
Later, after work you would have been able to stroll next door to The Tankard inn and through into the Brittania Music Hall, now sadly burned down. Ironically, on that ground now sits the National Emergency Services Museum’s fleet of emergency vehicles! So, if you’ve ever fancied making your brew with fantastic views of Sheffield’s retired lifeboat, you’re in for an exclusive here.
We hope to house even more entrepreneurs in the area for years to come and although the music hall is no more, you are within a short walk into the heart of the bars and restaurants of the thriving Kelham Island Quarter.

Bringing the building into the 21st Century was our first priority and the whole place has been rewired, replastered, with new floors and several licks of paint creating several offices and studio spaces. Did we mention it’s Grade II listed? So yes, it took a while!
